Just a sketch

After painting in oil, it was time to get back to my watercolor.  I recently purchased some supplies for painting in the car.

We now have a Hobby Lobby close by and I purchased a lap table.  It is perfect to painting in the front seat. My pad and paints fit perfectly on the table top.  It is getting too cold to stand outside so this is what I will be doing for the winter months.

Also , just purchased the Amazon fire stick and the echo dot.  With the stick there is an app for prime photos.  It is wonderful to see my scenic photos on the 60in. tv screen.  Started doing some sketches.   Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season. Happy painting everyone.

Country Road
8x10 watercolor

I live near a lovely place on Long Island called The Grange Park in Sayville.   We go there often to sketch or paint.
I took some photos and did this watercolor sketch at home.  This is the time of year when the leaves change color must get back there, maybe today.

Art and Photo tripod easel

This my set up using the w/c tray as a table for my
watercolors and water container, the roll of paper towels
is held in place with a bungee cord. On the very top is a screw for the camera .
Working plein air, I love taking photos of the scene that I am working on and
being able to place the camera to shoot the scene is perfect.
Using my new art and photo tripod to work outdoors
I was working in acrylics

Just doing w/c sketches outdoors

Thanks to my good friend and plein air painter, loved her plein air easel.  After collecting
so many pochade boxes, tripods and french easels, this may be my very favorite.

What I do like about it, it is light, but can be made to stand up to the wind if I
place my back pack on the hook.  I will try to upload a better photo

W/C pan paints.

Watercolor study, using Schmincke pan paints

I have been experimenting with various professional w/c in 1/2 pan sets.  Schmincke and Dale Rowney.  Must say, they are wonderful to use.  Convenient to paint in the home or outdoors.  Very portable, but what I do like about these Paints are the fact that there is no need to worry about the tunes drying out before the Paints are fully used.
I also use the w/c tube Paints that I find useful both in the studio and outdoors, but for now, I really like these pan Paints for floral studies and still life set up in my home.
Happy Painting everyone.

Sayville Marsh

One of my favorite places to paint is the Maritime M useum in Sayville.  I have painted there many times.  I will be meeting my friends there this Thursday to do some more plein air studies.
I am planing to do a series of the Sayville Marsh and buildings / boats etc. At the Museum.
Happy Painting everyone.
