A study in gouache.  It is going to be a lovely day today.  Want to get some plein air sketching thinking about using gouache.

The week before Easter, Mike and I went to the Stony Brook harbor so that I could do some plein air sketch from my car.  Will probably go to the beach today for some more plein sketching.

Tuesday Morning entry

My first entry into my journal after Easter.  Still trying to get back into my art. Just a little warm up sketch to get my creative juices flowing.  It is still so cold here on Long Island, no plein air today, unless I paint from my car.  Just might do that, it is only 7am, so another cup of coffee will help.  Happy painting everyone

The Old Shack

The old shack.  A few years back I painted with a group.  I took so many photos as well as painted plein air.  The was done recently in my watercolor journal.

Just a sketch

After painting in oil, it was time to get back to my watercolor.  I recently purchased some supplies for painting in the car.

We now have a Hobby Lobby close by and I purchased a lap table.  It is perfect to painting in the front seat. My pad and paints fit perfectly on the table top.  It is getting too cold to stand outside so this is what I will be doing for the winter months.

Also , just purchased the Amazon fire stick and the echo dot.  With the stick there is an app for prime photos.  It is wonderful to see my scenic photos on the 60in. tv screen.  Started doing some sketches.   Hope everyone is enjoying this holiday season. Happy painting everyone.

Country Road
8x10 watercolor

I live near a lovely place on Long Island called The Grange Park in Sayville.   We go there often to sketch or paint.
I took some photos and did this watercolor sketch at home.  This is the time of year when the leaves change color must get back there, maybe today.

Art and Photo tripod easel

This my set up using the w/c tray as a table for my
watercolors and water container, the roll of paper towels
is held in place with a bungee cord. On the very top is a screw for the camera .
Working plein air, I love taking photos of the scene that I am working on and
being able to place the camera to shoot the scene is perfect.
Using my new art and photo tripod to work outdoors
I was working in acrylics

Just doing w/c sketches outdoors

Thanks to my good friend and plein air painter, loved her plein air easel.  After collecting
so many pochade boxes, tripods and french easels, this may be my very favorite.

What I do like about it, it is light, but can be made to stand up to the wind if I
place my back pack on the hook.  I will try to upload a better photo
