Barns and Nobel sketches

Mike Reading
Barns and Nobel.
                                                                Lady drinking coffee

Mike and I went to the mall today.  Still raining and we needed to get out.  After a walk through the mall we stopped at Barns and Nobel.  The perfect litle spot in the snack area to sketch people.  The lady kept changing her position and I had to do real quick gesture of her.  On the hand my husban Mike was so engrossed he didn't move.  So I did a little pen and ink sketch of him.  We then proceeded to go to Trader Joe's for flowers.  I will try to sketch them later today.  Happy Painting everyone.

Touring the L.I. Libraries

Today at Brightwaters Library

wc sketch
Brightwaters sketch, pen and ink

It's just too cold to go out and paint.  So the next best thing is to study people.  The libraries are great for this, because the people seem to stay still while they are deep in thought.

Out and About

Smithtown Library
watercolor sketch
Today was frigid, but had to get out of the house.  My first attempt was to do a water color sketch of the Smithtown Barn.  The road was still too icy and there wasn't a decent place to park.  I went out onto the road and took some photo's , they will have to do for now.  We then went over to the Smithtown library.  I sat at a very out of the way table on the upper level.  I did a sketch of the circulation desk and the ladies, which there was only two.  Which I just continued to do gesture sketches.  Hopefully I will begin to feel more comfortable doing these little sketches from life.  Happy painting everyone.
