                                                            White Roses from my garden

Was able to get outside for quick sketch using my Portable painter travel palette.  Wanted to do a quick sketch of these beautiful roses. It was a 20 minute quickie, I will do further studies in gouache.

Continued in the pm doing these studies from reference photos in my ipad.  Until my energy returns I must be satisfied with these studies.

Another quick study from my ipad.  A gesture study in pen and ink and watercolor.

Time for a change

                                                         Gouache on HP watercolor paper

I've been working in gouache for months and I think it's time to go back to oils.  I love changing mediums when boredom sets in , it is time for a change.  Gouache is great for my studies in my sketchbook, using it as reference for actual paintings.  So that being said. it is time for a change.  Happy Painting everyone.

Arteza Gouache

                                                                      Testing Arteza gouache

I think Arteza will be my go to gouache set while painting outdoors.  They come in tubes and love the texture and colors.  I will use an airtight palette. I will use M. Graham and Winsor Newton when I intend to mat and frame for sale.  In the meantime, these less expensive paint are perfect for  quick sketches and reference sketches for future paintings.  Happy Painting everyone.

trying new gouache paintts

                                                  Trying new gouache paint set.

The photo is deceiving because the set is large and heavy.  Great for studio sketches. The paints are creamy but I have to wait and see because they are know to dry out. But a few spritzed with water activates them to being creamy.  I love the colors and they are great for sketches in my travel sketch book.

My sketch of the beach.  Having fun with the colors.  Happy Painting everyone.

Heckscher Park plein air

2 Gouache sketches from my car

We went to Heckscher Park yesterday.  Found the perfect spot to sit in my car and sketch.  I am loving working in gouache.  Easy clean up and don't have to worry about getting paint in the car.  I use my cup easel on my lap and everything is within easy reach.  I painted these sketches on grey card stock, which takes the gouache paint without buckling.  Happy Painting everyone.

Gouache Studies

                                                              Abstract Study of Arboretum Tulips

Had to work from a photo take at the arboretum, still didn't have the energy to paint on location. Will

return when the weather is warmer.  We went to Trader Joe's and purchased miniature roses that kept me going through March.  I did this little watercolor study.

More Gouache studies using my cup

I have been trying different types of gouache paints.  M. Graham is my favorite so far.  I also using Winsor and Newton they are top grade and expensive.  Watching youtube and different demos on the less expensive gouache. I am waiting for the Artez gouache ordered from Amazon, and Himmi.  Please forgive the spelling still way to early and I am on my first cup of coffee.

Still trying to figure out blogging, it's been so long.  Oh, happy painting everyone.

Gouache sketches in my Travel landscape book

                                                               Kings Bluff Long Island

Had to get out and paint on location.  The weather is still not warm enough to set up outdoors.  Sat in the car and painted this using my gouache paints.

I haven't posted on my blogs for so long.  Had problems with my other blog, will see how this works. I do miss blogging and being connected with other bloggers,  Do hope this works.  Happy Painting everyone.
